Dr Luke Evans is the Conservative MP for Bosworth, having first been elected to Parliament in 2019 with a majority of 26,278.
The Bosworth constituency is found in the west of Leicestershire, and to the west of Leicester itself. It is a largely rural seat which includes the small market towns of Hinckley, Earl Shilton and Market Bosworth. Historically this was a mining area, which was once represented by the Labour MP, boss of the Tote, and friend of the Queen Mother, Woodrow Wyatt. Since 1970 however, Bosworth has become a safe seat for the Conservatives.
Born in 1982, Dr Luke Evans was educated at the University of Birmingham. He worked as a GP before being elected to Parliament, and also taught anatomy at the University of Birmingham.
According to the Register of Members Interests, Evans remains a registered self employed GP.
Dr Luke Evan’s father, brothers, and his wife are also all doctors. His mother was a nurse.
Well set up for a career in politics, Evans is a previous British public speaking champion.
He used to play rugby for many years. He also enjoys singing and previously sung in a competitive Barbershop chorus.
Evans supported Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
Soon after being elected to Parliament, Evans attempted to bring in a bill in relation to digitally altered body images. As part of a mental health initiative, he called for the media and advertisers to clearly label images that had been digitally altered.
He is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on the East Midlands, and Health.
