David Johnston is the Conservative MP for Wantage, having first been elected to Parliament in 2019 with a majority of 12,653.
The Wantage constituency is found within south west Oxfordshire. It is a largely rural seat that includes the market towns of Wantage, Wallingford and Faringdon, alongside the larger railway town of Didcot. Containing a notable agricultural presence, this area of the country has long been a solid Conservative seat, aided in no small part by the equal split in the opposition Liberal Democrat and Labour vote.
Born in 1981, David Johnson was educated at Oxford University. He worked as the Chief Executive of the charity, the Social Mobility Foundation for 10 years, before being elected to Parliament.
Johnston is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Football Club, and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Social Mobility, and AEA Pensions.
Johnston supported Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum.
He supports Liverpool football club and is reportedly a season ticket holder at the club.
