Statues and monuments of controversial figures in British history are a politically charged topic at present.
Last summer saw figures like Edward Colston torn down by protestors because of historical links with the slave trade.
Now the UK government is looking to introduce new legal protections for statues and monuments, making it harder to remove them from society.
During Thursday’s regular business question, Jacob-Rees Mogg said Britain’s history is one “we can be enormously proud of” and “we should celebrate our statues”.
The leader of the house went on to state that ‘the wokery classes should be thanked for improving our understanding of our noble history.’
