Using trusted third parties such as Hatzola – a non-profit, volunteer ambulance organisation – may be the key to increasing vaccine turnout in disadvantaged communities according to the secretary of state for vaccine deployment Nadhim Zahawi.
Speaking to the Women and Equalities Committee, Zahawi and the equalities minister Kemi Badenoch, spoke about the challenges and limitations in trying to increase vaccine uptake in BAME and underprivileged communities.
Badenoch said that some people have an inherent distrust of government as a result of experiences in their native countries and would be harder to reach.
