MPs clashed on the Greensill row during the Labour opposition day debate in the House of Commons.
Labour MP Dame Angela Eagle said the government was “mired in sleaze” while Tory ministers criticised Labour for previously wanting to bring in a £1000 charge to be on the lobbying register, limiting access for legitimate charities.
Labour’s motion to establish a select committee run inquiry into the Greensil affair was rejected, although the Treasury Select Committee later announced an inquiry into “the lessons from Greensill Capital”.
