The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) has criticised the government’s transport decarbonisation plans as ‘business as usual’.
The Department of Transport has laid out plans to reach net zero emissions by 2050, including £1.3 billion for developing electric vehicles and including more power points across the UK.
But Becca Massey-Chase, co-deputy head of the IPPR environmental justice commission, said: “It does nothing to address some of the really endemic inequalities in our transport system. Action on the climate crisis needs to put fairness at the heart.
